AIMA Strengthens Board with Appointment of Industry Leader David Parker

AIMA is pleased to announce the appointment of David Parker, founder of Sneakers Media, to its Board of Directors. Parker succeeds founding Board Director Elaine Gibbons, who steps down after playing an instrumental role in establishing AIMA and its voice within the industry.

Alex Radford, Chair of the AIMA Board, welcomed Parker's appointment. "We're delighted to welcome David to the AIMA Board. With over 25 years of media experience and as founder of Sneakers Media, David brings extensive industry knowledge and strategic expertise. He's a strong advocate for independent agencies, and we look forward to drawing on his experience and passion for the sector as AIMA continues to grow its impact."

Radford also acknowledged Gibbons' contribution. "We want to thank Elaine for her tenure and valuable contribution. Her commitment to AIMA, and to strengthening New Zealand's independent media sector, has been instrumental in establishing this organisation. We're grateful for her leadership, advocacy and lasting impact."

Parker says the timing feels right, with Sneakers Media celebrating its 10th year. "I feel like I've got something meaningful to contribute now, and a responsibility to look beyond my own business and play a more active role in shaping where the indie community goes next."

He's particularly focused on what AI means for the sector. "Buying and optimisation are only going to get more commoditised. What clients will still need is experienced people who understand what's working, what isn't, and what to do about it — and that direct, responsive relationship is exactly where indies have always had the edge."

Parker is looking forward to collaborating with fellow board members. "There aren't many chances in our sector to step back from your own business and work on something bigger. I think helping shape AIMA can bring that same sense of purpose."

David's appointment is effective immediately.
